The Lesbian & Gay Foundation (LGF) is a vibrant charity with a wide portfolio of well-established services and a rapidly developing range of new initiatives aimed at meeting the needs of lesbian, gay and bisexual people, and in August 2014 announced it was going to develop the work with the trans* communities.

We’re currently working on our next strategic plans, which will be published in 2015. As well as developing a timetable for inclusion, the Board will also explore the implications for The LGF’s future branding, vision and mission. In the meantime, The LGF will continue to work with local trans* groups to prepare for the necessary changes.

We campaign for a fair and equal society where all lesbian, gay and bisexual people can achieve their full potential, and our mission is: ‘Ending Homophobia, Empowering People.'

     What are our strategic goals?

The LGF is a registered charity (No. 1070904) and a company limited by guarantee (No.3476576).

The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees from a variety of backgrounds and with a wide variety of skills and qualifications.

The Trustees are supported by the Chief Executive and four Directors responsible for Services, Finance, Income Generation and Organisational Development.

The LGF’s staff team, currently equivalent to 40 full-time staff, deliver a wide range of services, many of which are supported by over 200 volunteers.

Our volunteers give their own time and skills to further the work of the LGF and the communities we serve.

As a result, we provide more direct services and resources for more lesbian, gay and bisexual people than any other charity of our kind in the UK.

A word from our Chair and Chief Exec

David McGovern, Chair; Paul Martin, Chief Executive

Here at the LGF we don't want gay rights, we want equal rights for LGB people.

The right for LGB people to be ordinary, and to live their lives with dignity and respect.

The right for LGB people to be all that they can be and to achieve their full potential.

We want LGB people to have the personal confidence to be out in all circumstances, when they choose to, and the right not to be judged when they are.
