The LGF is a registered charity fighting for and supporting lesbian, gay and bisexual people.

Our votes count!

We know that politicians can and do help shape communities for the better, but with a number of important elections on the horizon it has never been more important for our elected representatives to support the 2.8 million lesbian, gay, and bisexual voters in Britain today.

Every one of the major political parties in this country is now publicly committed to equality for LGB people.  Britain is a fairer and more inclusive place but there is still so much more to do to make sure that each and every lesbian, gay and bisexual person in Britain feels that they have a voice.

It is for these reasons that we are asking those involved in the political process to pledge their full commitment and to take action to support their lesbian, gay, and bisexual constituents.

We want them to:

 1.  Listen, Value and Invest in LGB Voluntary and Community Organisations.

 2.  Combat Homophobic Bullying in Schools.

 3.  Ensure that all Public Services monitor the Sexual Orientation of their service users.

 4.  Sign up to: Enough is Enough!  Take Action Against Homophobia.

"This is only the beginning of how politicians can help support the many lesbian, gay and bisexual people who are living with the daily reality of homophobia. We need their help to support those in our society who are living their lives in secret, not publicly acknowledging their sexual orientation for fear of reprisal. This is because whilst some public attitudes have changed, many have not and homophobia is still very much present within our society today.

"As people who care about our society, about fairness and about the future of Britain we are asking them to show their commitment to their lesbian, gay and bisexual constituents."

Paul Martin, Chief Executive of The Lesbian and Gay Foundation
