Consultancy and Training
The LGF provides more direct services and resources for more lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people than any other charity of our kind in the UK. This makes us best placed to provide consultancy and training to support other organisations with their LGB staff and customers/service users.
Times are a-changing!
The past decade has seen the introduction of a wide range of legislation in relation to sexual orientation. As the Equalities Bill takes effect, it will become even more essential that organisations give full consideration to the needs and rights of lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people within their communities.
Estimates of the number of LGB people vary between 6 - 10% of the population. Whilst introducing sexual orientation monitoring remains a sensitive challenge, over time, it is the only meaningful way that organisations will be able to properly assess the true number of LGB people accessing their services.
Furthermore, not only will organisations need to determine that they are complying with legislation, but for many, it will be increasingly important to develop best practice, both as an employer and as a service provider. The most successful organisations will be those that can attract and retain the best staff, whilst planning and providing services that are welcoming and appropriate for the diverse communities around them.
Whilst some organisations are already making significant progress, for many, this is a new and possibly daunting prospect. As a result, the LGF has launched a range of consultancy and training packages designed to help organisations become exemplars in sexual orientation equality.
How can we support you? All this and more...
As well as providing generic equality and diversity training, we also specialise in sexual orientation monitoring and LGB issues within workforce development and services improvement.
Training sessions can also be provided across a range of LGB topics, including hate crime, sexual health, mental health, substance misuse and domestic violence.
