French bloggers use Lily Allen to fight homophobia

25 Jun 2009

Readers of French LGB blog 'Gayclic' banded together last month to record a special video to mark International Day Against Homophobia.

By Marc Robinson

Using Lily Allen's 'F*ck You' track from her latest album, blog visitors have submitted mimed videos to the track, which have been edited together to form a tremendously uplifting anti-homophobia video.

The video has been fully approved by Lily herself (and her record company Parlophone). She says of the song, 'it's not a direct attack at anyone, it was originally written about the BNP in the UK but then I felt this issue has become relevant pretty much everywhere. The future is up to us... hate hate."

A huge well done to all involved at GayClic.com - you made our day with this amazing video, and truly deserve a Homo Heroes Award! We encourage you to link to this in all your social networks!

A word of warning though - obviously the language in this video may be unsuitable for some (and definitely unsuitable for watching in the workplace), so think before you press play...

...and the response to the track, originally released as a demo at the beginning of the year to preview Lily's new material for her second album, has become so popular and iconic that she, oh okay her record company, are set to capitalise on the popularity of the song by releasing it in Europe.

If you are wondering how they are going to get around the swearing just click play below to listen to the fun way it's addressed and watch the official video courtesy of Parlaphone.
