This is where you can find out what you can do to help financially support our vital work to change for good the lives of lesbian, gay and bisexual people.
Why is your support still needed?
There have been a lot of positive changes in the past few years for lesbian, gay and bisexual people. We have the right to serve in the forces, we have an equal age of consent, Section 28 has been repealed, we can form Civil Partnerships and we finally have equal recognition in access to goods and services. This is all due to the hard work and campaigning of committed individuals and organisations such as the Lesbian and Gay Foundation.
However the facts remain that:
- 1 in 5 of us have tried to commit suicide;
- 9 in 10 of us have been verbally abused;
- 1 in 10 of us are HIV positive in the major cities;
- 4 in 5 of us have been bullied at school;
- 3 in 5 of us have been beaten up; and
- 1 in 4 of us suffer from alcohol or drug addiction
If we are lucky it can make us stronger, it can make us who we are, but it really should have been easier; it shouldn’t have to be so tough.
You have the potential to end homophobia!
Imagine a world where lesbian, gay and bisexual people are free to live their lives without fear, without prejudice and without discrimination. A world where we all have the potential to be anybody we want to be.
The LGF has always been about people. Ordinary, everyday people who are lesbian, gay or bisexual. People who are your neighbours, partners, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, work colleagues and friends.
Please support the Lesbian and Gay Foundation in putting an end to homophobia.
