Frequently asked questions
I can only offer time during the summer – is that a problem?
Absolutely not, summertime is our busiest period, especially with Manchester Pride and our own summertime activities – for you to be available at our busiest time is fantastic!
I am heterosexual, is that a problem?
No! The Lesbian and Gay Foundation prides itself that it is such a diverse organisation! As long as you meet the criteria as stated in the volunteer role profile, and interview well, (as with all volunteers), then you will be welcomed into the LGF.
I only have limited time to offer.
All our volunteer opportunities are varied in that some are during the day, some are in the evening, and some are at weekends – hopefully there is something for everyone!
I have a disability, will that affect my volunteering?
No. We will aim to do our very best to ensure that you have an excellent volunteer experience with us. The equal opportunities monitoring form asks if you need any reasonable adjustment to enable you to volunteer with us – and based on your answers, we will endeavour to take any relevant actions that might be required. (NB. Our building has ramps and lifts to enable wheelchair users access).
