How do I become a volunteer?

Becoming a volunteer is a relatively simple process. If you are reading this now, then you have just taken the first step into that journey!

Step 1: Fill in the Form.

Complete our Volunteer Application Form along with a skills page (how you meet the criteria) for all of the opportunities you are interested in. You can download the volunteer application form, or alternatively you can contact karen@lgf.org.uk (0161 235 8004) to request a postal copy.

Step 2: Interview.

Once you have completed the form, your details will be processed and passed onto the relevant manager for the volunteer opportunity you applied for. They will then ask you to come in for a short interview, providing us with an initial chance to get to know each other, and to check we’re the right organisation for you. You will also be requested to complete a Criminal Records Bureau form.

Step 3: Training/CRB.

All new volunteers are requested to attend the LGF Induction Course before commencing their volunteering. Following this, you’ll either be ready to start volunteering, or for certain roles, you may be asked to attend additional appropriate training (eg. core skills for the Helpline).

"The training was friendly, relaxed and very informative – well done to all involved"
