Volunteer achievements

Volunteers of the Lesbian and Gay Foundation helped ‘End Homophobia and Empower People’ by achieving some amazing results in the last year.

LGF Helpline

  • 5,000 calls a year
  • 365 days a year
  • 50 volunteers

Top Issues faced:

  • Relationship Problems
  • Loneliness/Isolation
  • Meeting others
  • Coming out
  • Sexual Health
  • Legal issues

Face to Face Counselling

  • Over 790 hours of counselling
  • 22 counsellors
  • 88 sessions per month on average

Outreach clinic

  • 180 appointments in the last 12 months (97 first time appointments / 55 return / 28 follow ups)
  • 25% of attendees had never been to a Sexual Health Clinic before
  • 33% had never had an HIV test before

outnorthwest distribution

  • 200,000 copies delivered in the last year
  • Read by 60,000 people every month
  • 700 venues and key indivifuals currently receiving outnorthwest
  • A further 584,936 resources have been distributed

Fundraising

  • Amount raised for LGF in last year £30,000 raised (outside of Pride), including World AIDS Day (WAD).
  • Over 100 events attended including, Street collections for WAD, Fire and Ice Event, Casino Royale Night, Poptastic Birthday, Cruz 101 Birthday, Essential Bender, Lillettes at Via, Manto, Churchills, Classical Night for WAD, stalls at European Market, WAD Ball.

Groupwork

  • 1,808 visits to groupwork sessions
  • Regular members of groups:- 69 in total per week
    Carousel (10) / Steppers (8) / 40+ (6)/ Gay Married Men’s Group (5) Black LGBT group (5) / Art Class (6) / Feel Good (15) / Icebreakers (14). NB: these numbers are weekly averages and can fluctuate.
