Volunteer role profile: Face to Face Counselling (Therapeutic Services)
Main purpose of volunteer role
- To provide 1-1or couple counselling service for clients referred to the service
- To work constructively with clients in accordance with the values of the LGF
- To undertake appropriate monitoring and feedback within the LGF
- To actively play a role in the development of Face to Face Counselling Service
- To regularly attend the Face to Face support group meetings (monthly)
- To commit and sign up to supervision, training and support
- To pursue ‘LGB affirmative’ practice
- To provide specialist areas of counselling
- To keep up to date client files
Skills and abilities required
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Either be qualified to Diploma (Level 3) Counselling, or currently studying for it (actively enrolled on a course)
- A good understanding of the diverse lesbian, gay and bisexual communities.
- A commitment to equal opportunities and diversity
- You must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment to client confidentiality (in accordance with LGF confidentiality procedure and policy)
- You should be confident and comfortable discussing personal matters with service users
- Adherence to British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists Code of Practice
- You should be flexible around your volunteering availability.
