Substance Misuse Project
1 in 4 of us suffer from alcohol or drug addiction.
In partnership with Manchester’s Drug and Alcohol Strategy Team, the LGF’s Substance Misuse Project has successfully piloted a sexual orientation monitoring (SOM) programme to mainstream drug and alcohol agencies and staff across Manchester.
This has involved providing specific training for all mainstream services to deliver SOM.
This monitoring offers valuable information regarding the number of lesbian, gay and bisexual people currently accessing treatment and ways forward to increasing those numbers. The LGF has increased partnership work with appropriate mainstream drug/alcohol services and work towards providing all LGB individuals with a high quality ‘care pathway’ toward drug/alcohol treatment, advice and information.
The LGF is also involved, in a number of research projects, including an alcohol and drug dependency survey. This work is being completed in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire. Data gathered from this research will assist the LGF in further enhancing existing services and in the development of new services.
