Red RibbonGordon Brown today pledged to continue The UK's involvement in fighting AIDS worldwide and on the home front.

The PM highlighted that over the next seven years, the British government are committed to spending 6 billion on health, and an additional 1 billion on the global fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria.

He said that in order to fight AIDS in Britain, the government had increased funding to healthcare providers to meet their sexual health targets.

The PM also used World AIDS Day to highlight the need for people to support those living with HIV and AIDS, and stressed the importance of challenging prejudice wherever it occurs.

Brown also called on other politcal leaders across the world to continue to improve health services, especially those in poor areas.

To mark World AIDS Day, Candlelit Vigils are being held all over the country to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS, to remember those we have lost, and to support those who are living with HIV and AIDS across the world.
