HIV testing
You know the score! Too busy and stressed. Too busy to get an HIV test.
We all put things off and deciding now's the time to get tested is a very personal one. But knowing what your status is now will remove some of that stress and anxiety and open up more choices for your future.
Even if you decide not to go ahead and take a test, getting yourself armed with up-to-date information about HIV and safer sex will put you at an advantage. Whether a test proves to be positive or negative, having one gives you with options to ensure you continue to have a safer, fun time in the bedroom (or wherever!).
Not only that but it will also help you to look after yourself.
Your results
If you have HIV, then the earlier the infection is diagnosed, and with close monitoring and possible treatment, the less chance it has of damaging your immune system.
If you get a negative result, it will give you the chance to take stock of your current sexual lifestyle, whether you are putting yourself at risk of other sexually transmitted infections, and also to think about how you might approach your lifestyle differently.
Check out our list of contacts for sexual health clinics near you and remember you will have to make time to go for a check up and be prepared to answer questions from the doctor or nurse on why you want to take a test for HIV or STIs. If you are embarrassed just remember that you are looking after your health and minorembarrassment is better than major ill health.
