Volunteering as a counsellor

We only offer placements to student counsellors that are undertaking a BACP (or other accrediting body) counselling course. We only offer placements to students in the second or third year of a Diploma, BA or MA. We welcome applications from qualified and experienced counsellors.

To apply to become a volunteer counsellor it will be necessary for you to complete a volunteer application form. On this form you will need to provide the names of two potential referees, ideally one of these should be a course tutor or current counselling supervisor. Once we have your completed application you will be asked to attend either a 1:1 or group interview. If you are successful at this interview references will be sought and a CRB check undertaken. Providing these are satisfactory you will then be offered a placement and an induction will be carried out by the LGF’s Counselling Officer. Please note this process can take up to 3 months to complete

Are you currently recruiting counsellors?

Sorry but we are not currently recruiting volunteer counsellors as we presently have a team of over twenty-five therapists . However, you can email counselling@lgf.org.uk expressing your interest in becoming a volunteer counsellor and we will contact you when we are recruiting again.
