Personal safety tips
Often we may feel that we are safe and if someone was to attack us we would be able to handle ourselves but it is important to remember that people who may wish us harm will often wait until we are ‘off guard’.
You may find the following tips straight forward but they could help you feel a lot safer when you are out and about.
! - Always think about your safety when you go out.
! - Stay alert. Awareness is your best defence.
! - If you are out drinking make sure you pace your drinks.
! - Leave venues with friends wherever possible.
! - Walk awayfrom any trouble if you can.
! - Be confident. Even if you don't feel it.
! - Walk as if you know where you are going.
! - If you are out at night try to stay in well-lit areas.
! - Trust your instincts. If you think something is wrong then act on it.
! - Have your keys in your hand when you reach your home or car.
! - Keep money for taxis. The expense is worth it.
! - Carry a personal alarm and use it.
