New Rapid HIV Testing Clinic

The Lesbian and Gay Foundation and the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health are hosting a rapid HIV testing clinic at Princess House (the home of the LGF) every Thursday afternoon.

The new rapid HIV clinic means that you get your results within 20 minutes of taking the test.

Nathan Perry the LGF's Sexual Health and HIV Co-ordinator said: 'We are extremely happy with the fact that we will be able to deliver this long awaited service from the LGF premises in partnership with the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health.'

"We understand that the decision to have a HIV test isn't an easy one, and once you have decided to have a test, the wait for the results can be a worrying and stressful time. Therefore, offering a service where we will be able to give the results within 20 minutes is a fantastic step forward for us.'

The rapid HIV testing clinic will also provide a test for syphilis and offer Hepatitis B vaccinations. The new clinic will take place between 4pm - 6pm and operates on a walk-in basis. Appointments will not be needed.

But what about the LGF's Sexual Health Outreach Clinic every Monday?

The new service will not affect Monday's outreach clinic which is run on Monday afternoons from various locations throughout Manchester, including three gay saunas.

The Lesbian and Gay Foundation will continue to host the weekly (every Monday) sexual health outreach clinic for gay and bisexual men in partnership with the Manchester Public Health Development Service and the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health (with Nurses from the MRI). Testing at the clinic includes: HIV, Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and we also offer Hepatitis B vaccinations. To check out the LGF's new clinic times, click here.
