#Love_Is...An LGBT Tea Dance!

Publish Date: 01/08/2014

To kick off Manchester Pride 2014 The LGF are hosting a traditional style tea dance, with sweet treats and dancing delights, provided by Cadman’s School of Dance. Relax, meet friends, enjoy the music and food, and learn different styles of dancing, including ballroom, waltz and salsa!

For those of you unfamiliar with the term, a "Tea Dance" refers to an afternoon or early evening dance party. It traces back to the Victorian Era where it evolved from the concept of afternoon tea. In certain parts of the LGBT community, the term, sometimes spelled T-dance or T dance, is also used within gay culture to designate similar dances: particularly those held on weekends in nightclubs, or at the end of the day at gay resorts.

Our LGBT Tea Dance will be aimed at members of the community who may or may not be attending the main festivities over The Big Weekend but who would like a gentle alternative to the merriment and mayhem that will be happening over the Big Weekend. We particularly welocme older members of the LGBT community to attend the event as a chance to get together in a safe social space, have a gossip, enjoy some music and not worry about having to battle the clubs, pubs, loud music and crowds.

There is no need to book, but if you do have any accessibility needs or dietary requirements, please email kate.hardy@lgf.org.uk or phone 0845 3 30 30 30
