Are you going to the OWLympics?

Publish Date: 19/07/2012

Oldham LGBT Forum and Oldham LGBT Events Group are organising the 8th annual FREE Oldham Pride for 2012 which consists of a Pride Parade from Oldham Town Centre to Gallery Oldham and also lots of stalls, arts, crafts and sport at Gallery Oldham between 12.30pm and 4.00pm.

Following on from the success of last year, the stalls will be outside, some in the Gallery Garden and some immediately outside the Gallery, all at the heart of Oldham Pride.

The parade through the town centre is aiming to be an even bigger success than last year and to achieve this everyone is invited to join the ‘OWLympics’ parade (assembling at 11.45am at Town Square outside the Spindles Shopping Centre).

You can dress up or think about how you could visibly demonstrate support for the ‘OWLympics’ theme in the parade.

There will be a few speeches at 12 noon before the parade sets off to Gallery Oldham.

As usual Oldham Pride will include a range of entertainment and activities including this year:  X Factor Star Sami Brookes, AbbaFusion, Cavali Jay, The LadyPuffs and Mason, Gay Gordons, Prairie Dogs, Charlie B, Youth band, Valentino King and your hosts- fabulous Pride favourites Rosie Lugosi and Jonathan Mayor.

Why the OWLympics? Did you know The Oldham Owl can be seen on Oldham's crest and is widely incorporated as a mascot or symbol of the town. It originates from the old pronunciation of Oldham which is "Owldum”!
