Bake the Rainbow, Share the Rainbow

Publish Date: 09/05/2014

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation (The LGF), in partnership with the Village Bakers, are encouraging people to bake their own rainbow coloured creations to mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) on Saturday 17th May 2014.

We’re encouraging everyone to do something positive by baking and sharing tasty rainbow treats with their friends, work colleagues and community. You can also share your impressive baking delights with The LGF via social media, or even collect donations to help The LGF continue to provide support for lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGB&T) people who have experienced hate crimes.

This forms part of The LGF’s new campaign ‘The Rainbow Connection,’ which aims to raise awareness of IDAHOBIT as a day to challenge hate against LGB&T people, while encouraging the reporting of hate crime.

To inspire people, we've created three recipe cards, which you can download from our website: www.lgf.org.uk/IDAHOBIT

We've also produced three fun 'how-to' videos with help from Joe and Violet from the Village Bakers.

Episode 1 (Chocolate Brownies):

Episode 2 (Rainbow Cupcakes):

Episode 3 (Rainbow Biscuits):

The Village Bakers are also inspiring people to get involved by holding an event at 1pm on Sunday 11th May at The Molly House, 26 Richmond St, Manchester, UK M1 3NB. You can find out more information by visiting: www.facebook.com/villagebakers

You can tweet your cake pictures to @lgfoundation #IDAHOBIT2014, share them on Facebook www.facebook.com/TheLGF or email them to: rainbow@lgf.org.uk

The campaign consists of a variety of ways in which people can get involved, connect with us and with each other – whether it’s through sharing creatively, attending our vigil, attending our film night, flying a rainbow flag or using our dedicated Hate Crime reporting app – there are a variety of opportunities to show your support!
