Challenge Yourself in 2013!

Publish Date: 17/12/2012

If you make just one New Year’s resolution, signing up to a personal challenge is a great decision.

When that motivation to carry on using your gym membership is starting to wane, having a target to work towards is proven to get you out of the door.

When that leftover Christmas pud seems too tempting, knowing you’ll need to work it off pounding the streets could just give you that extra willpower.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, what about these facts below:

  • Regular exercise has a direct positive impact on your mental wellbeing, stress levels and feelings of happiness.
  • Exercise also has a huge effect on your physical health and how you look, meaning you’ll be glowing on the outside as well as the inside!
  • Your immune system is boosted by exercise, so you’ll be primed to fight off that nasty January cold.
  • Doing something good for others increases your feeling of self-worth; by raising money for charity, you’re helping to reach more people in desperate need of support.

Previous challengers have told us:

“I would recommend it anyone who wants to set themselves a bit of a challenge. Raising money for the LGF will support those people in our community who need the most help.”

“I decided to enter the run for a couple of reasons, mainly to raise funds for The LGF but also to set myself a personal challenge. I had been meaning to get in shape for a while and this was perfect motivation.”

We have places in the Virgin London Marathon, the Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon and the Manchester & London BUPA 10k runs.

If you’d prefer to pick your own challenge, other people have done parachute jumps, a zip slide across the Manchester Ship Canal and a a 60 mile cycle ride and an aerial assualt course! Contact claire.baldwin@lgf.org.uk to discuss your ideas and get personalised advice and support!
