Flying the Flag 2012

Publish Date: 13/04/2012

Flying the Flag is an annual campaign that is co-ordinated by The Lesbian & Gay Foundation to mark International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) on 17 May.

Last year, we supported over 250 organisations in flying a rainbow flag, this year we aim to increase that number to more than ever before.

This year The Lesbian & Gay Foundation is working in partnership with Gaydio  to enable the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans community to visibly show their support in challenging homophobia, biphobia and transphobia by 'Flying the Flag' on Thursday 17th May 2012.

Through providing the community with information, publicity and promotional opportunities, we want to help you show your support for the local and the international campaign to end homophobia, biphobia and transphobia and we want to give everyone in our community the chance to really make a difference!

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation has a stock of rainbow flags that are available to distribute to individuals; so if you can encourage your employer, your local councilor, your local hospital . . . or your local football club to fly a flag, we’d be delighted to provide you with the flag and supporting posters so that you can do your bit.

You can review images of flags flying from 2011 and give yourself a reminder of last years’ activities by clicking here

We’ll be collecting information and images from all sites that will be ‘Flying the Flag’, asking for photographs and supporting groups and organisations around innovative ways to mark the day over the coming month.
