Dr Stephen Tomkinson from The Bodey Medical Centre comments "'We completed the Pride in Practice workshops several months ago, with events held for both clinicians and admin staff. We were subsequently thrilled and honoured to be awarded the highest level, GOLD award, from LGF as a result of the work we undertook in relation to the workshops.

"The workshops were very interactive and really eye-opening to many of the issues facing the the LGB community. As a result I feel that my personal practice has changed as has our physical practice environment, to help breakdown some of the perceived barriers faced by the LGB community, when encountering a primary health care setting.

"Through a simple step, such as having a 'LGF Pride in Practice Poster' in my consulting room, patients have been able to refer to it and discuss their own sexuality, when previously they may not have felt as comfortable doing so. This as a result, has helped the clinical and diagnostic process as well as made consultations more patient-centred and specific to that individual's needs. We would highly recommend the workshops to all GP practices"
