Join us to Celebrate Equal Marriage!

What Happens Now?

Yesterday The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Bill completed its Third – and final – Reading in the House of Lords. Tonight, at 7pm, the Bill will go back to the Commons for MPs to consider the amendments. If the MPs agree, which is what we expect, the Bill is passed! It will then go for Royal Assent, and become the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013.

This is a historic day for all lesbian, gay and bisexual people across the country. It’s fantastic that same sex couples will now soon be able to equally celebrate their love for one another alongside heterosexual couples – this is a huge step forward for equality.

All of us at The Lesbian & Gay Foundation want to take this opportunity to say a huge thank-you to all of our amazing supporters who ensured their voices were heard within this important campaign and its down to them that we are now within kissing distance of marriage equality.

Join us for a Celebration in Manchester - this Thursday!

If you’re in Manchester why not join us this Thursday 18 July to celebrate the passing of the Bill? We’ll be in Via, Canal Street from 6pm, complete with canapés, cake, cocktails and confetti! Do join us and help celebrate this momentous occasion! No need to RSVP just turn up, and spread the word! Everyone is welcome! For more details contact sarah.mcnally@lgf.org.uk.

Wonderful isn't ? BUT meaningless...what about Equal Pension Rights for surviving same sex spouses then? That isn't in there just as Gordon Brown inserted his poison pill into the Civil Partnership Act to deny gay couples the same pension rights as heterosexual couples.Labours' Big Problem - the closet homophobes in the party.Baroness Howe raised the question, believe it or not. There's a Tory I'd kiss!
