New Art Therapy Group at The LGF
Publish Date: 03/11/2011
The group will be facilitated by Christopher Whitehead, a qualified Art psychotherapist registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) and the British Association of Art Therapists (BAAT).
Chris first offered art therapy at the LGF as a student during his training, and is now returning as an independent art therapist to offer a weekly art therapy group for the LGBT community.
Chris is also a practicing artist and has worked in a variety of settings in the adult mental health field before becoming an art therapist.
The group is aimed at the whole of the LGBT community with a minimum age of 18 and will allow individuals to explore any issues they may have in a creative way.
There is no need to be a skilled artist. This is not an art class or an activity group. The idea is to use art materials to explore issues within the group in a safe, confidential, and therapeutic environment. Art materials will be provided.
The group will be starting Wednesday 25th January 2012 and will run weekly every Wednesday for 12 weeks. Each session will last 90 minutes from 6.30pm to 8.00pm. The cost will be £20 per person per week. Chris is looking for a maximum of 8 people for the group initially, but plans on creating a new group every 12 weeks.
Once a group begins there will be no new members accepted for that particular group,
but applications will be welcome for the next group.
There will be an informal meeting with Chris before being placed in the group. Please contact Chris at firstname.lastname@example.org to express an interest in attending the group, or to ask any questions you may have. The cut off point for applications for the first group will be Wednesday 4th January.
