Tuesday afternoons free? Come to Bloomers Older Women's Group!
Publish Date: 30/06/2014
On the 1st and the 3rd Tuesday of the month, the Bloomers Older Women's Group meets at the LGF. The group is for older women, who identify as bisexual, gay or questionning, and we also welcome trans women too.
Even though we call it an 'older group', we don't put any age restrictions on members, as we believe that 'older' is self defining, anyone is welcome to the group!
Launched last summer, the group has welcomed many women through it's doors, and provided a fun and safe space for women to talk, laugh, share and learn. The group is really informal, and everyone is welcoming and friendly.
Past activities have included self confidence workshops, travel stories, quizzes and photography, but every other session we also have a less structured group where you can catch up and enjoy a chat and a brew. Future sessions you can look forward to are aromatherapy, making positive changes, and even laughter therapy!
Group members are involved in contributing to the group, and we're always looking for new ideas - maybe you have a skill you want to teach others, or you'd like to share your experiences about a certain subject. Here is what we have planned for Bloomers this summer:
1st July Chat and a brew with Pictionary and board games for those interested
15th July Laughter Workshop with Robin – a fun session where we discuss why we laugh, and what makes us laugh!
5th August Chat and a brew with the Wii
19th August Summer Quiz and canalside walk (if weather permits)
We realise that it can be a nerve racking experience to come to a group on your own, so you can always meet someone before for a quick chat.
We work on the basis that everyone is responsible for welcoming new members to the group, so hopefully, strangers won't be strangers for long! You don't have to come every week, some people just pop in when they have time, the group is there when you need it!
The group is held on the 1st and the 3rd Tuesday of the month, 1pm to 3pm. The best way to find out what's going on in the group is go on to our 'What's On' page of our website or phone us on 0845 3 30 30 30. You can even email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any worries or questions.
