Volunteer to co-facilitate a support group in a secure setting

Publish Date: 18/04/2012

The Lesbian & Gay Foundation have been facilitating a number of groups in one of the large high secure hospitals for almost 10 years. The purpose of the groups is to provide a safe and accepting space for patients who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual to meet and feel part of the wider community.

We are currently looking for two new volunteers to help us facilitate these groups, which take place once a month on a Thursday. You would need to be able to commit to attending at least 10 out of the 12 visits each year and have excellent communications skills and some knowledge of mental health disorders and/or learning disabilities.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please get in touch with our Wellbeing Co-ordinator, Lucy Rolfe at lucy.rolfe@lgf.org.uk, providing some information about yourself and why you think you would be suitable for this role.

We ask that you limit this to no more than 500 words and submit expressions of interest by 5pm on Friday 4th May 2012.
