You can change lives for LGBT people in Cumbria
Publish Date: 23/01/2012
Are you interested in supporting the LGBT community in Cumbria? Are you affected by the difficulties LGBT people face in this rural, isolated part of Britain? Are you concerned by the lack of specialist services for the 30,000 + LGBT people who live in Cumbria and the 720,000 who visit every year?
OutReach Cumbria are doing something about it
OutReach Cumbria plan to launch a number of services for the LGBT community in the next year, and they want to hear from anyone who lives and works in the county who would like to help them.
They are looking for help to launch a number of different projects, so if you have some time on your hands and would like to be part of this exciting initiative then OutReach Cumbria would love to hear from you.
At the moment there are vacancies for volunteers in the following roles:
- As committee members, helping to ensure that OutReach Cumbria is well governed.
- As telephone helpline volunteers, providing advice and support.
- As health advisors, providing advice and support in community venues.
All positions include full training and out of pocket expenses.
OutReach Cumbria want to hear from anyone with an interest in the LGBT community in Cumbria; if you have specialist skills in the areas they work in that is great, but if not then still get in touch as they will be equally pleased to hear from you.
OutReach Cumbria would also like to hear from anyone who is currently providing services for the LGBT community in Cumbria; they feel that everyone will benefit if we are all able to work together and support one another across the county.
It is easy to feel isolated in an area the size of Cumbria, and if we all know what support is available in each area then it will be easier to find help for those who need it.
If you would like to find out more, please contact Richard on 07896 250662 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. They're really look forward to hearing from you!
