Published: 24/08/07
It all starts here! Join thousands and celebrate Manchester Pride this weekend.
The wait is over! For the next 78 hours Manchester Pride’s Big Weekend will be in full swing, so read on to find out what’s happening, and make sure you don’t miss a moment of the fabulous festivities!
As usual, the roads have been closed, venues have thrown open their doors and a host of big names are preparing to rock the main stage for what is expected to be the biggest weekend in Manchester Pride history!
Every year revellers from all over the world flock to Manchester to celebrate one of the biggest gay events of the year.
A host of major names will be headlining the main stage, including The Gossip, Belinda Carlisle, Betty Boo, Angie Brown and Gareth Gates. And you’ll be spoilt for choice as the clubs and bars in and around Canal Street compete to hold the most camp-tastic events, including a Hairspray Night at New Union, a Policeman’s Ball at Manto, and an alternative night from AXM featuring a live PA from Siobhan Donaghy!
Of course every year one of the highlights of Pride’s Big Weekend is the parade, which takes place from 2-4pm on Saturday. Charities, businesses and social groups from all over the country will be submitting floats. Entrants this year include Greater Manchester Police, Amnesty International and Age Concern.
If you still haven’t bought your tickets, it’s not too late! The Manchester Pride Box Office will be open from 6pm tonight, selling weekend tickets for £18, day tickets for £13, and child tickets for £5.
Daily Out will be back tomorrow with more coverage from the festival. Pick yours up from any village venue or download now from the brand new look LGF website, www.lgf.org.uk
