The gorgeous Beth Ditto and the rest of the gang provide a spectacular headline to Manchester Pride 2007.
This year’s hottest band is heading to Manchester fresh from appearing at Carling Reading and Leeds Festivals this weekend. Beth, Brace and Hannah will be performing exclusively at Manchester Pride tonight before heading off to festivals in Europe.
And Manchester Pride had better get ready for something really special.
At Reading Festival on Friday, Singer Beth Ditto was wearing a sparkly pink and purple dress and hat combo, and one minute into the set hitched up the dress around her waist to reveal her black underwear and legs.
At last night's Leeds Festival commenting on her black and gold dress Ditto asked: "Do I have a camel toe? I need a bobby-pin to tie back my camel lips. I have a big vagina."
Ditto, is held up as a role model by many women young and old for her uncompromising views on how women, especially in the music and fashion business are not being appreciated for what they achieve, women get "bombarded with photos of girls with bodies that so, so, so few have, in clothes that will never fit and that you will never be able to afford" says the singer in today’s Independent.
"No one shows you a photo of ‘Mama’ Cass and says, ‘See? She’s a genius and had an amazing music career’. Or a painting by Frida Kahlo and says, ‘ You can be a revolutionary with vision and a unibrow, and not only will you be loved, worshipped and acclaimed, but you will be remembered for work, timeless and outstanding’."
Whatever Beth and the band bring to the main stage we can guarantee that it will be unmissable. Scheduled to appear at 10pm tonight for a whole hour, get ready to worship at their feet (or any other anatomical part you choose)
