Information on LGF Outreach Clinic dates and times
The LGF continues to run a weekly outreach clinic in partnership with our colleagues from the Manchester Public Health Development Service and the Manchester Centre for Sexual Health (Nurses are from the MRI).
We know how hard it is to make time for a sexual health check–up, but we want to make sure that all gay and bisexual men in Manchester have access to our clinical services so they do not suffer, knowingly or unknowingly from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) that are as easy to catch now as they ever were.
Our Outreach Clinic allows gay and bisexual men in Manchester the opportunity to get a full sexual health check up in a relaxed and confidential environment. Women should be referred to their local GUM clinic (check with your local clinic for full details).
Testing includes:
• Chlamydia (urine test)
• Gonorrhoea (urine test)
• Syphilis (Blood test)
• HIV (Blood test)
• Hepatitis B (Blood test)
• We also offer Hep B vaccinations.
Swabs:
• Throat swabs are taken for STIs in the throat (Testing for Gonorrhoea) (Taken by nurse)
• Anal swabs for STIs in anus (Testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea) (Taken by client)
Test results:
Works on a ‘no news is good news policy’. If you do not have any positive results, you will not be contacted. If you haven’t heard within 3 weeks, all results were negative.
If any results are positive, you will be contacted by the MRI. Length of time of results will be confirmed by the nurse.
The clinic is held at The Basement Sauna, H20 Zone Sauna, Heat Sauna and The Rembrandt Hotel on a rotating basis, every Monday with some dates on Tuesday's around Bank Holiday periods.
The Outreach Sexual Heath Clinic reached over 200 men in 2007.

Venues:
The outreach clinic operates from 4 different locations on Monday afternoons (Tuesday's when there's a Bank Holiday) within Manchester's city centre and Chorlton.
1. H20 Sauna - Under Clone Zone, 36-38 Sackville Street. M1 3WA (The Gay Village).
2. The Rembrandt - 33 Sackville Street, M1 3LZ (Canal Street).
3. HEAT Sauna - 496A Wilbraham Road, Chorlton, M21 9AS.
4. Basement Sauna - 18 Tariff Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1 2FN
When the clinics are held at a sauna, the client does NOT have to be a paying customer. They just need to inform the staff they are there for the LGF outreach clinic.
