Girls...let's talk about sex

Next focus group 30th July - BOOK NOW!
In July the LGF, in partnership with Manchester Public Health Development Service, will be conducting focus groups with lesbian and bisexual (LB) women regarding their understanding of sexual health in relation to having sex with women.
Due to the lack of research into the specific sexual health needs of LB women there are many myths and misconceptions out there, both in terms of health professionals knowledge when screening and advising lesbian and bisexual women, and within the lesbian and bisexual women’s community.
This fact has been recently highlighted with the release of Stonewall’s damning report 'Prescription for Change, Lesbian and Bisexual Women’s Health Check 2008'.
The aim of the focus groups is to gauge women’s knowledge of their sexual health; what they understand safer sex to be, which STIs they feel they are at risk from, how they feel when accessing sexual health services and the experiences they have had, if a safer sex pack was available to them would they use it to practice safer sex and if so, what products would they like it to contain.
The information gathered will then inform us as to where the current gaps in knowledge and resources lie, and help us to develop training for health professionals and women themselves, in conjunction with Manchester Public Health Development Service.
There will also be refreshments provided and a voucher for every participant.
If you are interested in attending and giving us your opinion the next event is Wednesday 30th July 6.30pm 'til 8pm
