Manchester Fundraiser for Elizabeth and Mervis

Help women seek asylum from dreadful discrimination.
Elizabeth came to the UK after suffering rape and torture in Uganda (East Africa) because of her sexuality. She was deported from the UK in June 2006 after authorities refused to believe she was a lesbian, because she had a child as a young woman. Elizabeth is now seeking asylum in South Africa, where she is destitute with no money for accomodation, food or her HIV treatment.
Mervis fled Malawi (Southern Africa) 5 years ago after the death of her husband, she was in fear of her life because she refused to marry her brother in law, who was already married. Mervis then became ill and was diagnosed with HIV. Mervis, her daughter, and her newborn grand daughter, have no support in Malawi, and fear that their lives will be in danger if they return. Also, the medication Mervis needs is not available in Malawi.
A fundraiser has been organised for Friday November 28th at Globe (formerly Bar Barlow) in Manchester to raise money and awareness of both women's predicaments and campaigns. The fundraiser starts at 6pm and you are promised, marvellous music, fabulous food, a ravishing raffle and a terrific tombola...there will also be an auction at 9pm.
