Northern Wave celebrate silver triumph

Swimming team storm to a silver medal in the GB masters.
Northern Wave - the Greater Manchester swimming club for the lesbian and gay community - are celebrating after their male relay team triumphed at the British Masters National Championship in Sheffield.
The team composed of Paul Smith, Martin Smith, Thomas Lord and Ludovic Otterbein entered two events; the 200m freestyle relay and 200m medley relay.
In the 200m freestyle relay the team finished second just behind Nottingham Leander SC, but in front of Birmingham Masters on 1:48.48.
Only a few hours after the first success, the team did it again. The 200m medley relay race was closely contested affair. Ludovic Otterbein managing to fight his way back into contention after starting last on the final leg, to secure another second place for the team.
These are the first relay medals for Manchester's LGBT swimming club coached by Rob Ward, and signals the club's intention to compete on the national and international stage in the future.
Northern Wave Swimming Club is an independent not for profit community voluntary organisation run entirely by volunteers. The club is for the Lesbian and Gay community and friends in the Greater Manchester area and beyond.
