Pride Games 2007

This year's Pride Sports is launching - will you be there?

On Sunday 12th August 2007, Manchester’s Pride Games will return to the city to kick off their third annual week long multi-sport event. The Games actively discourage homophobia in sport, by holding more than 30 sports and leisure activities.

Up to 1,500 athletes, plus around 3,000 spectators and supporters from the North West, across the UK, Europe and beyond are anticipated to take part over the seven days until 19th August. The games will kick off with a festive spirit on the opening day with the British Heart Foundation Santa Dash at Salford Watersport’s Centre. This will be followed by seven different competitive international sports tournaments with a first of its kind Youth Pride Games. Also, for the first time this summer, Pride Games will host its first international ballroom dancing competition. A number of taster events will also be on offer for those less experienced athletes or non-competitive types. These will include swimming, netball, football and water polo to the more adventurous rock climbing, raft building, sailing and line dancing. The legendary Bell-Boat Regatta is also back by popular demand, together with some classic fun-loving activities including a bungee run, surf simulator and a tug-of-war competition.
