The Lesbian & Gay Foundation have received funding from leading, learning and skills and the European Union Social Fund to help lesbian, gay and bisexual people who are out of work become more confident in applying for jobs.
Pour Yourself a Cup of Ambition' is a brand new confidence building project specially designed for unemployed lesbian, gay and bisexual (LGB) people, as there is a clear correlation between unemployment and low confidence. For LGB people, this lack of confidence can be exacerbated, due to perceived or actual discrimination they have, or may face in the workplace on the grounds of their sexuality.
'Pour Yourself a Cup of Ambition' will increase confidence in LGB people, so that they can address this issue and become more confident in engaging with mainstream employment and education services.
The three day Confidence Building Course will also increase other relevant skills such as team building and assertiveness, and will be specifically tailored towards increasing confidence and the ability to overcome barriers to employment and learning support.
The course is open to all lesbian, gay and bisexual people who are unemployed.
The course will also explore LGB people's rights in the Workplace. We want to educate LGB people as to what their rights are, so that they feel more confident in accessing employment and more likely to challenge potential discrimination, rather than allow this discrimination to become a barrier.
There will also be a chance to look into the volunteer opportunities available at the LGF.
This will give attendees an opportunity to recognise their personal strengths, as well as areas they need to concentrate on further to utilise the confidence and skills they have acquired during the project, giving them experience of formal interviews.

I have recently applied to volunteer for LGF. I am currently unemployed and think this 3 day course would be a valuable experience. Thanks
