Event Full Details: The overall purpose of the Manchester mencap Citizen Advocacy Project is to create social opportunities and long-lasting connections for people labelled with learning difficulties, within the rich demographic mix of Manchester, through leisure, cultural and innovative social activity for members and volunteer advocates. Getting Our L♥ving Done is new project from Manchester mencap Citizen Advocacy Project, hosted by the Lesbian & Gay Foundation in Manchester city centre. We are inviting people with who think they may be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender to join us in a safe supportive atmosphere, to share their feelings, to talk about their fears and to feel safe and happy among other gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered people. We hope friendships will flourish and people will feel able to explore how to be the person they want to be, without risk or discrimination. This project is for people who are over 18 and who are have learning difficulties – and who live in the Manchester City Council area. Our aim is to get people together to enjoy the privileges and possibilities of contemporary living, while exploring their individual potential by pushing the boundaries of the ‘institution’. We invite you to come along and meet us on Wednesday 16th January 2013 between 1 and 3pm. You can be introduced to us by your social worker or advocate, or family member. Come with a trusted friend or by yourself – you will find a warm welcome and a new sense of freedom!
